Staff Meeting 1: Explore the distinctions between
Assessment for Learning and Assessment of Learning

  • Read, and briefly discuss, the selected 'Quotes' to begin to reach an understanding of the distinction being made between the two phrases.
  • Brainstorm, under two headings (e.g. on flipchart):

  • Use 'Some Definitions, and Basic Principles' to add to or confirm the outcomes of the brainstorming session.
  • Close, by considering and recording collective views about the questions:

      • planning - short term lesson planning and medium term planning?
      • marking - when it is done and how it is done?
